More research showing why green tea is a welcome addition to your beverage collection.
A recent Japanese study has found that green tea consumption could lower the risk of developing dementia.
A leading Japanese scientist led a team of researchers in the study, which took place over a number of years in Japan.
The participants were 60 and over, and were separated into groups dependent upon their tea and coffee drinking habits.
Of the 723 people that participated, 490 of these took part in a follow up survey, which found that drinking green tea every day was linked to less mental decline.
The findings of the study were presented at the International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
This study adds to previous research published by Phytomedicine in 2011, where studies showed that drinking green tea could help protect brain cells.
